Joya was in the prime of her life when she was diagnosed with cancer. Joya says the fear and uncertainty over the future was especially stressful. She relied on a network of family and friends for emotional support.

However, her family and friends weren’t able to help here with everything. When Joya needed the facts on her condition, she turned to American Cancer Societies 24/7 cancer helpline. Even though she called in the middle of the night, Joya says they were supportive and offered her the support she needed, saying “Whoever that was on the other end of the phone, I will never forget that. I am so thankful.”
